Sizing Nails
Sizing 101
Sizing is incredibly important when ordering your press-on nails! This guide helps to eliminate any confusion with how to size your own nails, or how to know what size you are!
There are two forms of sizing you may use on my website: Custom sizing for a custom set, or figuring out what size you are from a predetermined set of sizes!
Custom Sizing
Instructions for custom sizing is as follows:
- Take a picture of your hands flat on a surface next to an American coin (a penny, nickel, dime, or quarter)
- Take one picture of each of your thumbs next to it, and one picture of each hand that show the other four fingers. At the end you should have 4 pictures total: left thumb, left fingers, right thumb, right fingers.
- Send Kona your pictures through this Google Form once you purchase your custom tier!
- And that's it! If you ever purchase custom nails from Kona again, you won't need to attach your sizes as she notes down every customer's personalized sizing for the future!
Standardized Sizing
Standardized sizing follows a system very similar to that of clothing companies. It follows the "small, medium, large" generalization as a way to somewhat custom fit a person's size. This method works well, but is not as perfect as custom sizing.
The best way to find your size is to measure your nails!
My pre-determined set of sizing is as follows:
Small: Thumb~15-16mm, Index~11-12mm, Middle~12-13mm, Ring~10-11mm, Pinky~8-9mm
Medium: Thumb~16-17mm, Index~12-13mm, Middle~13-14mm, Ring~11-12mm, Pinky~9-10mm
Large: Thumb~18-19mm, Index~13-14mm, Middle~14-15mm, Ring~12-13mm, Pinky~10-11mm
**Note: Medium pre-set sizing fits ~70% of customers
***Extra Note: Slightly larger nails can always be filed on the side to fit more snug, so always size up rather than down if you are unsure of exact sizing!
How to Size?
Use this diagram as a guide for how to size your nails!
Use one of the two methods to size, then use the standardized chart for estimate of which size is closest to you, whether Small, Medium, or Large!
Now you know how to size your own nails! You can use your standardized size when ordering made-to order sets!
